Shady Ladies

"Throwing Shade" is one of those Urban Dictionary phrases that I've recently added to my ever-expanding slang repertoire. Partly because when I think of 'shade' I think of two of my favorite things in the whole wide world: lipsticks and sunglasses. I've come across some amazing lines- both iconic and emerging- so I want to share with you my top picks and pairings when it comes to all things...shady. I guess you could call this ironic as throwing shade means to talk trash. Go figure.

1. White + Tangerine   I love to pop a bold color against anything neutral. The white in these sunnies brings out the richness of the juicy orange tone in this lipstick, which by the way can be applied with one hand, the moment you pull it out of your bag. I especially recommend it for moms, as it can be done while holding a kid.

2. Black + Lavender   I'm a sucker for bling. This pair of cat eyes gets a modern take with an electric lavender lip if you're looking to draw a little extra attention to yourself. The good kind.

3. Metallic + Rose   This line with an it-girl following has some of the most iconic shapes in their sunglass line and the 70s vibe screams for an equally cool lip. Just enough sheen to compliment the metallic rims. Match made in heaven.

4. Patterns + Peach   Statement shades are kind of my obsession. Patterned rims, colored lenses, gold accents...I can never have enough. So when I throw shades like these on, literally, I keep my lips on the neutral spectrum so the focus stays where it should. But if you paired these with a bright red or sassy fuschia, I mean.....of course I would not throw shade at you. Do what you love girl.
