Girl Power: Met Gala 2016

Zoë Saldaña arrives in a Dolce Gabbana gown

This year's Met Gala was a representation of the dichotomy between hand sewn and machine sewn fashion with the aptly-named theme Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. Attendees did not disappoint on the red carpet with dresses and makeup looks ranging from futuristic to art deco to classic. Here are our favorite looks:

Poppy Delevingne in Marchesa

Holly's favorite was British it-girl, Poppy Delevingne. She was head-to-toe perfection in a flapper style Marchesa dress with an equally stunning crimson lip and radiant glow courtesy of makeup artist and fellow Brit, Charlotte Tilbury. Get her look with Charlotte's 'Rock Chic' Luxury Eyeshadow Palette and Matte Revolution Lipstick in 'Glastonberry'.

I about dropped dead when I came across the image of actress Zöe Saldaña in her custom Dolce & Gabbana gown (shown above). This is why the Met Gala is fashion's biggest night! As for makeup looks, I too loved the vampy lips on Poppy and Taylor Swift, plus I loved the silver accents on the eyes of Joan Smalls and Rita Ora. Makeup Artist Kathy Jeung applied Rimmel Magnif'Eyes Double Ended Shadow & Liner, ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Pencil in 001 and Glam'Eyes 710 Twilight Zone Silver Powder shadow to give Rita a silvery stare. Find these Rimmel products at Target and Ulta.

Joan Smalls

Finally, I loved the entire looks on supermodels Jourdan Dunn and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Jourdan gave us major #girlsquad inspo in Balmain with a sleek bob and flawless makeup. Rosie kept it classic with a touch of modern accented on her shoulder in her Ralph Lauren dress, complete with a gorgeous makeup look.
