Bold Lip Tips

Fitness and lifestyle authority, Johnna Green, wears MAC's 'Lady At Play' on her lips

It's summer time! You've hit the beach, the pool, and maybe even the makeup counter to grab one of the bright-hot lipsticks to wear with your gorgeous tan (or protected porcelain skin). If you've had one too many umbrella drinks and need a quick refresher- a makeup one that is- than look no further! Here is our easy 3-step guide to creating summer's bold lip:

1. Moisturize: it's important to hydrate your lips so your pout is plump instead of wilted. Bright colors are great and all, but they show everything, including chapped skin. We like to apply Hourglass Lip Oil to settle in and work it's magic while foundation, brows and mascara are happening. Once it's time to apply the lipstick, any leftover residue is removed with a tissue to provide a clean, dry canvas.

2. Apply, Blot, Re-apply: Isn't that 3 steps? Well sort of. But the more you do it, it becomes one quick motion. Start by applying the product with a lip brush from the center of the lips and work outwards. We used MAC's Lady At Play on fitness and lifestyle vlogger, Johnna Green, of More Than Mrs.  **Tip- applying lipstick with a brush will ensure the richest amount of pigment on the lip. Next, blot your first layer of lipstick with a tissue to create a stain on your lips. This will give you a colorful base to build from. Last, load your brush with more of the lipstick product and apply a second coat.

3. Clean up: If you've colored outside the lines a bit, dip your (clean) lip brush into your concealer and run it along the edge of your lip lines to create a crisp look. You can also dip your brush into makeup primer to help remove any lip product without removing your foundation.
